I stay away from trendy things but there is this woman. her name kept popping up everywhere. Most recently Rachel Hollis appeared on my Instagram feed and stories. I mean non-stop! Friends from all over the world sharing about how amazing and life changing a book that Rachel wrote is. You know, the one that tells you to wash your leg. I am sure that you have seen the cover of the book in your feed too. Wait, it's "Girl Wash Your Face" (Slap! In the face! Wake up! That's pretty much what she is saying right?) I have still not read the book. The 'Rachel hollis' everywhere continued! I was having a down day when I stumbled across a documentary that would be playing at our local theater. There she was again. This stranger (with awesome style) named Rachel Hollis. This was her movie and naturally if she was going to write a book and title it, "Girl Wash Your Face" she would title her movie, "Made for More" with every intention to speak to a woman's soul. I text my girlfriend who didn't know anything about Ms Rachel Hollis and the Hollis Co. asking if she could meet me for the encore showing of this film. Our husbands stayed home and we met at the theater. The film started with something like, "life is happening to you or life if happening for you."-Rachel Hollis, made for more movieThe film highlights how important it is for us to embrace our past first before we can successfully embrace the future. Rachel emphasizes on how we are all more alike than not. We all have been through big, hard, scary things and we have made it to the other side. We are all warriors. We need to stop beating ourselves up with these voices in our heads. We need to turn the shaming in our heads into giving ourselves credit for all that we are. We are Made for More. When the film finished everyone in the theater clapped with smiles on their faces. We went out for a glass of chardonnay (just one) and both agreed that we really enjoyed the film. Not just the film but the message. I am looking forward to implementing some of Rachel's guidance into my own life. I want to be exceptional at all of the things in my life. Why should I settle for less? Why should anyone? Life needs to happen for us. I will work hard to be an exceptional wife, mother and friend. I will give myself credit and tell the shame that I was Made for More. That I am a warrior. God created us individually and that is what we are; individuals. Imagine if we all gave ourselves the freedom, mentally, to reach our highest potential. As community we would change the world. Thank you for putting this into perspective Rachel Hollis. Your film is pure magic. I have been trying to understand my identity as I have recently gone from a full time Administrator of a surgeon's practice to a full time Stay at Home Mother. You can imagine things look and feel a lot different these days. I have been learning to adjust to the loss of a successful career identity- all that I have known and worked hard for. Often times I have felt like I am at a road block mentally. It has felt like I can't figure out what is wrong and I am not feeling fulfilled with myself. You will only understand this if you have been here before. Hearing Rachel talk about the importance of embracing where you have been and where you are heading as two separate events has really given me clarity. This message seems so simple but it runs deep. I have embraced my successes in my previous career and I am grateful for that season. I give myself credit for my successes. Now I can embrace my new identity as an exceptional Stay at Home Mother. Thank you hollis family for sharing your heart to empower others. thank you for empowering me. thank you for your kindness, selflessness, and vulnerability. Thank you for sharing what worked for you. love and community is what we all need.Is Rachel Hollis, Founder of the Hollis Company, worth following? YES! (yasss girl yas.) We were all Made for More!
