The first look:
This outfit is such a fun and comfortable one! The idea is that you take a more formal dress that has a pop of color and style it with sneakers and a cozy teddy coat! This gives three illusions. Overall you are cute, totally touchable (because cozy) and you are up for anything! When your coat is removed and your sneakers hide under the table you will fit in at any restaurant on Valentine's Day! Pairing an outfit this way creates the illusion that you are sweet and edgy ready to have some fun! The third look: 
This outfit is for anyone who hasn't shaved their legs all Winter! Just kidding. Kind of. :) I would recommend this look for anyone that doesn't want to wear a dress or is heading out on a blind date that they are unsure about! This look will also be good for anyway pairing an activity with dinning such as bowling, a movie, concert, an arcade, a painting class, etc. When you pair faux leather leggings and black sock booties magic happens! Your legs instantly slim down and become a mile long! Throw on a comfortable and oversized top that covers your bum! Today let's talk about how to style a flat brim hat from a girl next door, down home perspective! You might also refer to this hat style as a fedora. This 'how to style' has been a popular request from the Adopt Adventure Instagram community so let's see if I can spread some style inspiration on the topic!

​Off the top I'd like to tell you that styling your flat brim, wide brim fedora hat is easiest when you have shopped one in a neutral color! I'll link my favorite hat here. It's $44.00 USD and it is available to shop at Urban Outfitters in 5 great neutral colors! I love this hat because it is easy to style but most of all it's comfortable! It's a felt hat so it's the perfect material to wear year around! I also love this hat because it has a strong brim that stays flat. This is an important feature if you are looking for a hat that you will wear a lot! A strong brim allows you to sit the hat on your head differently. In the Spring you might like to light up your face by sitting your hat on the back of your head so it reflects light onto your skin. This is a hack if you wear highlighter makeup or glowy skincare! This will help your skin look extra radiant! I have actually talked about my favorite brightening highlighter on the blog before. Here's the link to visit the blog post! In the Fall you might like the hat to rest parallel with your eyes laying flat on top of your head. You guys! I turn 30 this year and I can certainly see my skin changing! It's like I woke up one day and my skin was telling me to figure out a new skincare regimen because what I was using did not cut it anymore! If you have been around here for some time you know that my corporate background is working in the field of facial plastic surgery. With this comes a lot of knowledge about understanding exactly where wrinkles, decreased skin elasticity, brown spots, surface blood vessels and skin tags come from. These are the things we don't love to see on our skin. Am I right? I got to learn how and why they can appear from a double board certified physician. The surgeon I worked for, which is the best in the Seattle area, would often say from age thirty on is when women start seeing these changes in their skin. For me he is right! What I am starting to see in my skin today is from sun damage that occured years ago but the impurities are unfortunately showing themselves now. I didn't wear sunscreen enough, wear a hat and I didn't  use a proper skincare routine in my teens or twenties. These things, plus my genetics, are why I am now trying to combat forehead wrinkles and discoloration on my face. 

Now I'd like to take a moment and say that not all wrinkles and skin impurities can be fixed with skincare products. The severity of this varies person to person and wrinkle to wrinkle. It is always my recommendation that a facial plastic surgeon should ultimately determine the best treatment plan for you - non surgical or surgical treatment options are out there! They are always getting better and changing too. If you feel like you have neglected your skin for too long or you are truly unsure of which way to go, scheduling a consultation with a qualified professional might be a great option for you! More often than not, a consultation fee is minimal and sometimes can be transfered as a payment towards your treatment. If you can gain more confidence from having a more radiant  complexion I encourage you to pursue this. 

Now that I have put that important information out there let's get back to what is working for me in the season of life I am in. Wouldn't it be exciting if I could tell you that I am seeing a change in my skin after implementing some new products into my routine? Today I am letting the secret out! Here are the five clean beauty products that I have been using for the last three months. They have been a game changer! My skin is brighter, more firm, my wrinkles are not as prominent (I can't wait to see the result in another 3 months) and my pore size is much smaller. Overall my facial skin is more refreshed and rejuvenated! If you have dull skin let my testimony be one that encourages you to make a skincare switch! I would love for these products or this content to be one that increases your confidence like it has mine. Beauty should be good for you and that is why I have linked clean AND effective products from both Beauty Counter and Tula Skincare. It is also why I have educated you about the option of scheduling a consult with a qualified professional. Here is what is working for me, how I apply the products and why I use them!

The Overnight Resurfacing Peel is all about making your skin more radiant. I apply it to a clean face and wear it overnight (or sometimes during the day if I'm at home with the kids) 3x/week. I remove this product with a washcloth and my dead skin cells wipe away. TIP: I apply extra product to my forehead, 11 (between the brow) and cheek wrinkles for extra exfoliation. I use the Charcoal Facial Mask to balance my skin. If you want to remove excess oils and impurities from your pores to help minimize the appearance of them this is your product! I apply the Charcoal Facial Mask to a clean face and area treat with it. I typically notice pores on my nose and when it's that time of the month I see excess oil around my chin area. This product is actually pretty cool because not only do you see results afterwards you see the oil come out of your skin while it is on. I leave this clean skincare product on for about ten minutes then wash it off. Price(less): $49.00 USD

The Tripeptide Radiance Serum is what rejuvenates my skin. I maintain a clean complexion with the two products that I previously mentioned and then I brighten and firm my skin. This product also helps to minimize wrinkles! I apply the serum daily at least 1x/day sometimes 2! TIP: Similar to when applying the Overnight Resurfacing Peel I apply extra Serum to the areas I want the most improvement. This tends to be the areas where I did extra exfoliating! This product will transform your skin when used with the two other products listed above! Price(less): $79.00 USD

The Tula Face Filter Primer is all about prepping your skin before applying makeup to it. This product helps to blur your complexion/skins texture and it also provides nutrients to your skin with probiotics + superfoods. I know that when I apply this to prime my skin ; I am protecting my skin and helping it be the smooth canvas that I want! This product comes out of the packaging white and during application turns to a nice tan tinted product. I always recommend this product to anyone that wears makeup. You will fall in love with the Face Filter Primer! It is such a great base! Price(less): $34.00 USD

As we age our skin becomes tired and dull. The Brightening & Cooling Eye Balm, when applied underneath and/or on top of makeup brightens your appearance by giving your skin a glow! I apply this product underneath my eyes just above my cheek bones! I also like to highlight the bridge of my nose with this stuff. The product works like a tube of lipstick and it's really easy to carry in your purse for an on the go pick me up! Bonus- this stuff also has a cooling effect that feels amazing upon application! I recently enjoyed this location with a girlfriend of mine, Haley of @HaleyParkerStyle, and we had the best time! I plan to book this location again with my family. There is plenty of room for the kids to run around and comfortable seating for mom and dad to relax. I am also planning on booking this AIRbnb for a work staycation. The Blackbird Farmhouse provides free WIFI internet, complimentary top of the line coffee, a full kitchen and washer/dryer set up. The two bedrooms are fresh, clean and comfortable. This is the perfect space to hideaway! 

Local amenities include but are not limited to five star dining in Bellingham, Washington. Both the ocean and the mountain are within an hour drives distance each way. This is the perfect landing spot for all of the adventurous souls out there as well! If you enjoy boating or snow skiing visit here in the Summer and Winter months! The airport is a short UBER drive away!

I also recommend this space to anyone that has family visiting from out of town. Be sure to say, "no" to the local hotels if you can get a night or two at this sweet home. It was the second year for Adopt Adventure Blog and marked the start of representing brands through partnerships! This was a new experience for me. I like to keep this space bright and light! If you are visiting again you know that. I am all about feeding the positive and starving the negative. The reason I do this is to spread love and happiness to anyone who visits AdoptAdventure.com and then they can take it with them when they leave! I never want anyone to feel depleted. However, today's topic might leave you feeling uneasy. I have this hope though that my voice will be a service for greater good. This topic has been on my heart all week. Perhaps because we are celebrating ones life and achievement for being an influential civil rights leader. The man who paved the way for political, social freedom and equality ; Martin Luther King Jr.

At the start of this blog post I mentioned that my partnerships with brands started last year and with that came an eye opening realization. I started coming across brands and services who sometimes would refer to themselves as either, "LGBTQ friendly" or "LGBTQ un-friendly." First things first I apologize for not realizing that this was even a dilemma. Secondly, The Adopt Adventure Blog believes in accepting people for who they are as an individual and everything that coincides with that.

Hi friends!
My husband started cooking with a smoker during our first year of marriage in 2012. He started with a Big Chief electric smokehouse then he switched over to using a charcoal smoker that was connected to our barbeque. He ended up using that one until basically the entire thing became weathered. If you are not familiar with charcoal barbequing it takes a lot of work to get it lit and then to smoke meat for hours the cooking takes a lot of patience and love to keep the temperature just right! He has spent the last 5+ years getting up throughout the night to add more charcoal and check on the food that was cooking more often than not. I absolutely love that my husband enjoys cooking barbeque style! I feel like it gives this Mama a break in the kitchen and some days that feels so nice!

Now that we have the Pit Boss Series we will never look back! This product makes cooking meat and other things so easy and delicious! Owning the charcoal smoker for a handful of years before upgrading to this automatic pellet fed temperature regulating machine, makes me think that my husband probably learned alot about cooking with smoke doing it mostly by hand before. I would like to add that the pellets used to feed this smoker don't include any chemicals and you know that makes this plant loving mother very happy!

We are hosting Thanksgiving at our home two times this November and being able to load this vertical smoker up with food (it's like a big oven) is going to be just perfect!
