My blog is mine; I own it. Blogging has given me the opportunity to be my own boss. I have the freedom to say, write and create whatever projects that I want. I don't have someone looking over me telling me what niche I need to focus on. I get to choose it day after day,
When I switched from working full time outside of my house to being stay at home for my son, I needed to find something that provided me with gratification. The kind that you get from extending your love to others. I used to work in the medical field and I got to help people feel better. Blogging gives me the outlet to share life and style experiences that work well for me and my family. Blogging is a way that I can help people feel better just in a different way than medicine. When one of my readers sends me a message saying how much they love a cute new pair of boots that I recommended because they are comfortable and easy to style. I know that I have touched their life. I have made it easier for them to get dressed in the morning and take on their day with confidence! This makes my soul happy which results in tending to the cares of myself.
As a blogger, you can create any kind of content. There are a number of niches that you can choose to focus on and when you do, they always stay unique to who you are. I am a life and style blogger. For the style portion of my blog you will see in my photographs that I am different then the girl next door. I do not wear a size small, have fake eyelashes, botox, fillers and breast implants of which make my photographs different from what you might see on the tabloids or in fashion magazines. I don't have anything against these things, just don't have them right now. I am your average working mama who lives in a small town. People message me and actually say things like, "I want to blog. I have so much to say but I am not cute enough to be successful." This breaks my heart. Encouraging individuality and including this in my blogging niches is something that I love to do. The same God that created the sun, moon, mountains, ocean, and puppy dogs, made you. You are nothing short of cute and beautiful. Both on the inside and out!
I believe that everyone should have a creative outlet. Creativity is fuel for the soul. I get to use my imagination with every aspect of my blog. What to write about in my post, how to style an outfit or photoshoot, how to market a new campaign or send pitches to companies. I am having a blast! I love that blogging feeds my creative side!
I have made some of the best friendships and experienced some of the most intriguing conversations through blogging. This job has given me the opportunity to network with other human beings that I probably would have never met otherwise. I love people from all walks of life and the world of blogging bridges a gap between you and them if there happens to be one. I love this! Blogging is a positive way to network with others.
Receiving both commission money from repping brands and sample products to showcase is a great perk to blogging. This is why it is a job because it is profitable. I was out with my girlfriend the other day for lunch and when I got home my commission dashboard showed that I made $76.00 while we were out.
How fun is that?
